A note from the Director

Joseph Dineen Arts (JDA) is embarking on our very first official season and it's all thanks to the incredible relationships I've formed with a multitude of dancers & their families over the past 20+ years. As part of the #JosephsGEM brand, I've invested in developing a personal connection with every one of my clients & students over the years. By teaching a physical regimen focused on technicality, creating an artistic space for creativity & by communicating the intricacies of this process for not just the dancer, but also for their parent(s) to join in and help navigate & create a space for the dancer/human to grow & thrive, I've come into a space & confidence to bring this training program forward into our humble dance industry up here in the PNW.

I believe in dance (& in life),  the only constant is change. Growth is an inevitable process of learning to dance & it would be impossible for anyone not to change after learning how to dance from one's heart & soul. This is the philosophy that drives the methodic approach I teach my GEMS in dance. I encourage my students to love the details. And in order to do so, we must train our technical dance foundations rigorously along with pushing the boundaries of our athleticism & artistry. We must do this all while loving ourselves & leading with kindness along the way. This is what I've learned while dancing professionally for 20 years & coaching/choreographing in competitive dance. Behind all my awards, accolades & recognition in dance, there is a somatic regimen & strong-willed approach to honing the talent, creating the discipline & fueling my passion that I am sharing within my training program.

This will be my 22nd year of teaching/coaching dance & choreographing and I am absolutely thrilled & blessed to be able to start my own dance training program in this season of life & dance! Through JDA & my #JosephsGEMS brand, I hope to showcase my knowledge & artistry on a national scale while creating a bridge from training to professional & college-level for dancers all over Washington state. Thank you so much for taking the time & allowing me to share my excitement with you! Cheers to dance, love & good vibes! - Mr. Joseph

Elevate Your Dance Journey

About J. Dineen Arts: Your Pathway to Dance Excellence

J. Dineen Arts is a training program catering to highly self-driven young dancers who are building towards a career in the arts (industry or collegiate) or choosing to build themself into excellent humans through the discipline of dance.

Some of us dancers would not say we chose dance, we'd more likely say dance chose us & we simply pursued that attraction, vigorously. #JosephsGEMS are students of precision & train with a freedom of expression. This is the culture we aim to build within JDA, rooted in purpose & fueled by our passion, dance.

JDA currently has four tracks of training:

  • Elite Soloist track - #JosephsGEMS
  • Team Member track - #GEMStheTEAM
  • Elevated Training track - Joseph's Gems trainee
  • R.A.D. program track - HS Dance Team training

Each track is unique & consists of required regular *weekend core classes, regular private instruction & a **drop-in class requirement per month; among other JDA program events, comp/cons & workshops. This ensures that all JDA students are training with a consistent technical & artistic foundation led by Joseph with positivity & professionalism, while actively pursuing exposure to all kinds of dance offered in the greater Seattle area & beyond.

JDA's aim is to build well-rounded young artists who are both disciplined athletes & professional, warm humans, ready for the big world that awaits them after high school.

*Team Member & Elevated Training tracks also have required core class & rehearsals on Wednesdays during the season.

**R.A.D. program dancers do not have a monthly drop-in class requirement.

Is JDA Right for Your Dancer?

The #JosephsGEM training program is designed for dedicated dancers who are eager to grow and excel in their craft. If your dancer is passionate about performing, learning, and competing, this program could be the perfect fit. With a commitment to a structured training schedule and a collaborative team environment, JDA nurtures talent and ambition.

  • Is my dancer self-motivated?

The JDA program thrives on self-motivation. Dancers who are ready to embrace challenges and push their limits will find a supportive environment that encourages continuous improvement.
  • What if my dancer enjoys both performing & competing?

If your dancer loves to perform and is excited about setting both short-term and long-term performance goals, they will fit right in. The program emphasizes performance opportunities and competitive experiences to build a confidence with performance & a genuine connection with their self-expression on the stage.

  • Can my dancer commit to a weekend training schedule?

A consistent weekend training schedule, along with a varied drop-in class weekly routine, is essential for success in the JDA program. Dancers who can commit to this structure will benefit greatly.

  • Does my dancer thrive in a team?

Collaboration is key in the JDA program. Dancers who enjoy working with others on creative projects & concepts will find a vibrant environment that fosters teamwork and innovation. The Elite Soloist track members may compete as soloists, but train as a group in core classes & are tasked with collaborative responsibilities that promote teamwork-skills & community.

  • What if my dancer prefers casual participation?

If your dancer is looking for a more casual experience, the 'Train like a Gem' pop-up classes are a great option. 'Train like a GEM' class levels are intermediate to advanced in nature, but they provide a great introduction to the JDA program and can pave the way for future participation. Contact us for more info via email on the 'Train like a Gem' pop-up classes.
